Unique Wedding Venues in Washington DC

Mess Hall

For couples who are serious about food, Mess Hall might just be the perfect venue. The only private event space in DC that looks directly into an open industrial kitchen, Mess Hall combines polished concrete floors, exposed 18-foot ceilings, and mid-century modern décor into a space that’s as versatile as it is visually striking. What makes it truly unique is its community of nearly 40 local food and beverage producers, from full-service caterers and food trucks to bakers and specialty makers — all working out of the same building, meaning couples have an extraordinary range of culinary options right on-site. The Great Room, adorned with reclaimed wood shelves and sliding barn doors, works equally well as a ceremony space, reception hall, or both.

The venue accommodates up to 199 guests. Pricing starts at $6,000, making it one of the best values for an industrial-chic DC wedding venue.

Culture House DC (formerly Blind Whino)

Following a colorful makeover by artist HENSE, the former Friendship Baptist Church was reimagined as Culture House DC, a bold beacon for creativity and community in Southwest Washington. The massive, technicolor building is covered in psychedelic colors and offers over 15,000 square feet of artful event space. Inside, the original church architecture meets eclectic rotating art installations, creating an atmosphere that’s equal parts whimsical and sophisticated. If your wedding aesthetic leans creative and unconventional, there’s nowhere quite like it in DC. The venue accommodates up to 200 guests, with prices starting at $6,000.
