Abbey and Aidan’s wedding at Kimpton Hotel Monaco Washington DC was the definition of calm elegance. Hotel Monaco’s historic architecture and warm interiors created a refined atmosphere without ever feeling stiff.

From the beginning, Abbey and Aidan knew they wanted authentic, documentary-style photographs. They were nervous about finding someone who would truly listen. As Abbey later shared, “We knew we wanted authentic, documentary-style photographs, and we were nervous we would not find a photographer that would listen to us.” That honesty shaped how I approached their day from the very first conversation.

The goal was simple. Capture genuine moments without turning the wedding into a photoshoot. I stayed present and attentive while letting the day unfold naturally, stepping in only when needed for family formals and portraits. Abbey described it perfectly when she said I was “a calming presence throughout the day and night,” which allowed them to focus on what mattered most.

The entire day flowed seamlessly thanks to the incredible planning by Margo Bright Occasions. Every transition felt effortless, giving Abbey and Aidan the space to be fully present with their people. Live music by Two Rivers Chamber Music set an emotional tone for the ceremony, while MyDeeJay kept the evening joyful and fun.

Florals by Helen Olivia Flowers brought softness and cohesion to the space, and hair and makeup by Updos For I Dos felt elevated while staying true to Abbey. Nothing felt overdone. Everything felt intentional.

Looking back, Abbey shared that I (Natasha) “captured every moment (and even ones we missed out on) with care, style and flair, while also making sure we got the requested formal and family photos.” That balance is exactly what made their wedding feel so natural.
