Catholic Mexican and Irish Wedding In Washington DC

Sam and Mari’s wedding was a celebration of love, culture, and family that blended Mexican and Irish traditions right in the heart of Washington DC. Their day began in the beautiful Dahlgren Chapel of the Sacred Heart at Georgetown University, followed by a lively and heartfelt reception at President Lincoln’s Cottage. With 12 hours of coverage, every detail and emotion of their day was preserved, from quiet moments with family before the ceremony to the packed dance floor at night.

A Catholic Ceremony at Georgetown University

Dahlgren Chapel was the perfect setting for Sam and Mari’s ceremony. The historic stone walls, soft light streaming through the stained-glass windows, and the intimate scale of the chapel created a beautiful atmosphere. Mari walked down the aisle surrounded by her parents, and the Catholic mass honored both her Mexican heritage and Sam’s Irish roots.

Portraits Around Georgetown

After the ceremony, we wandered through the Georgetown campus for portraits. The mix of historic brick buildings, ivy-covered walls, and cobblestone streets created a stunning backdrop for their first moments as newlyweds. Their joy was so contagious that it didn’t take long before friends and family joined in for candid group shots that felt as natural as the day itself.

Reception at President Lincoln’s Cottage

The celebration continued at President Lincoln’s Cottage, a venue that perfectly matched Sam and Mari’s vision. Guests were welcomed with cocktails on the lawn and had the chance to take in sweeping views of the historic property. The reception tent was filled with vibrant details that honored their cultural backgrounds. Mexican colors and traditions blended seamlessly with nods to Sam’s Irish heritage.

A Blend of Mexican and Irish Traditions

From heartfelt toasts to lively music, every part of the evening reflected their love story. Guests cheered during a traditional whiskey toast, while later the dance floor lit up with mariachi-inspired moments and Irish dancing that brought everyone together. The mix of cultures created a wedding that felt unique and deeply personal to who they are as a couple.

As the sun set, the Cottage grounds glowed under string lights, and the dance floor stayed full all night. Families laughed, friends celebrated, and Sam and Mari were surrounded by love at every turn. It was a day filled with emotion, heritage, and connection: everything a wedding day should be.
