Planning a wedding in Washington DC comes with a lot of questions, and you deserve real answers, not a sales pitch. Below you'll find everything couples most commonly ask me about my photography style, pricing, process, and what it's actually like to work together. If something isn't covered here, reach out anytime at hello@natashalamalle.com or book a discovery call. I'm always happy to talk through the details.
What is your photography style?
I'm a documentary-style wedding photographer. That means I follow your day as it unfolds — no shot lists, no stiff poses, no forced smiles. I use subtle prompts to help you feel at ease, and then I step back and let real moments happen. The result is a wedding gallery that actually looks and feels like you.
How many weddings do you photograph per year?
I cap my calendar at 20 weddings per year. That limit is intentional — it means every couple gets my full attention, from our first call to your final gallery. I'm not juggling 50 clients at once.
Do you work with a second photographer?
Yes! For most full-day weddings I bring a second photographer to make sure nothing gets missed. You get two sets of eyes on your day without losing the consistency of working with me as your lead.
Where are you based and do you travel?
I'm based in the Washington DC area and photograph weddings across DC, Maryland, and Virginia. I also love to travel — destination weddings are always welcome. Travel fees apply depending on location.
How would you describe your editing style?
Natural, timeless, and true to life. I don't apply heavy filters or trendy presets that will feel dated in ten years. Your photos will look like you, in the best light possible.
How many photos will we receive?
Every wedding is different, but most full-day galleries include 600 to 800 images. You'll receive a full online gallery — not a curated handful.
How long until we receive our photos?
Gallery delivery typically takes 6 to 8 weeks after your wedding day. I take that time seriously because I want every image to be something you're proud to print and keep forever.
Do you shoot film or digital?
Both! I offer film photography as an add-on for couples who love that warm, timeless aesthetic. I work with Richard Photo Lab for film processing and deliver scans through your Pic-Time gallery alongside your digital images.
What does the booking process look like?
It starts with a discovery call — a relaxed conversation where we get to know each other and I answer all your questions. If it feels like a great fit, I'll send a custom proposal based on your wedding day. I don't do one-size-fits-all packages because no two weddings are the same.
Are you LGBTQ+ friendly?
Absolutely and enthusiastically. Love is love, and I am honored to photograph all couples.
What makes you different from other DC wedding photographers?
A few things. I limit my bookings so you're never just another date on my calendar. I'm your photographer from the first hello to the final gallery — no switching photographers, no surprises. And when your gallery is ready, I celebrate it with a champagne date night box delivered to your door. It's one of my favorite parts of the experience.
What DC wedding venues have you photographed?
I've had the privilege of photographing weddings at some of the most beautiful venues in the DC area, including the DAR Constitution Hall, Tudor Place, Dumbarton House, The Line Hotel, the DC War Memorial, Lincoln Cottage, Woodend Sanctuary & Mansion, and Black Walnut Point in Maryland, among many others. Whether your venue is a historic mansion, a modern hotel, or an outdoor garden, I scout the light and layout ahead of time so nothing is left to chance on your wedding day.
Do you photograph elopements in Washington DC?"
Yes, and I love them. DC is one of the most stunning cities in the world for an elopement — the monuments, the cherry blossoms, the quiet corners of Georgetown, the Mall at golden hour. I photograph intimate elopements all across DC, Maryland, and Virginia. If you're dreaming of something small, intentional, and completely yours, let's talk. Elopements deserve just as much care and artistry as a 200-person wedding.
