Katie and Zack got married in late October at Riverside on the Potomac in Virginia. Around 75 guests attended. The ceremony was held outdoors overlooking the water with a live string quartet and a judge officiating.
The bridal party wore mismatched jewel-tone dresses (burgundy, teal, deep red, purple). Bouquets by J. Morris Flowers included red roses, pink ranunculus, blue delphinium, and purple blooms. Katie wore a floral appliqué strapless gown from Miss Stella York and white sneakers. Zack wore a powder blue suit with a burgundy tie from Suit Supply.
Riverside on the Potomac Wedding
The wedding party got ready inside the venue’s historic stone manor house, which features original wood paneling, antique furniture, and framed artwork throughout. Before the ceremony, everyone gathered at a dining table with loose florals. Ushers then directed guests across the lawn to the outdoor ceremony space by the water.

What the Ceremony Looks Like at a Riverside on the Potomac
Both of Katie’s parents walked her down the aisle. J. Morris Flowers placed floral arrangements at the altar (red, pink, and blue blooms) with the Potomac visible in the background. The space accommodates guests in white folding chairs on a paved surface, with a grass hillside behind and open water views in front. Additionally, the string quartet set up to the side of the ceremony area, adding live music throughout.

What the Reception Looks Like at a Riverside on the Potomac
After the ceremony, everyone moved into the venue’s barn, which features original wood beam ceilings and string lights above the dance floor. Purple Onion Catering Co served dinner at round tables with white linens. During the reception, multiple guests gave toasts, including Katie’s father and a groomsman. Katie then changed into a flower crown for the evening. The father-daughter dance opened the floor, followed by open dancing run by Pulse Your Wedding. In addition, the Marigold Bus and Booth provided a photo booth on-site. Lizzie Noble Events coordinated the full day.

Most couples find that the photos they remember most are the ones they didn’t know were being taken; guests reacting during the ceremony, candid family moments, and details happening in other rooms. As a result, those are the photos I focus on capturing at every Riverside on the Potomac wedding.
