Theresa & Beau’s Wedding at Black Walnut Point Inn

The Maryland wedding venue Black Walnut Point Inn is every wedding photographer’s dream in Washington DC. A beach wedding! We don’t get that vibe next to the Washington Monument so when Theresa and Beau decided to book me for their beach-vibe wedding, I was thrilled.

Black Walnut Point Inn Wedding

First of all, Bob and Tracy are the sweetest people you could trust with your wedding. Since 2010, Bob and Tracy are the Innkeepers of Black Walnut Point Inn and they did a wonderful job with the property. This Maryland private island haven is one of the most unique spots on the Chesapeake Bay that I’ve ever seen. Truly! When arriving at the island, you will drive a half-mile through 52 acres of bird sanctuary before opening to 6 acres of wildflower gardens and lawn surrounded by water. The sun rises over the Choptank River and sets over the Chesapeake Bay, which makes it perfect for sunset wedding portraits.

Black Walnut Point Inn consists of the main house built in the 1840s and three rustic cabins along the Choptank River which makes it perfect to plan a whole weekend for your wedding. The Inn is open year-round, and each guest gets a key to the sanctuary gate. Every accommodation has expansive water views, to enjoy the relaxed and peaceful vibe of the property. Most guests enjoy keeping a rocking chair or hammock company as they watch the day go by.

Tilghman Island has several restaurants, from fine dining to bistros overlooking the waterways, and St. Michaels is twenty minutes away. Back on the island, there are fishing charters, lighthouse tours and sunset sails.

I can’t believe this sunset: we did a lengthy portrait session, this was simply just too amazing.

Maryland Beach Wedding Vibe

The Black Walnut Point Inn offers acres of lawn tapering to a point surrounded by miles of water in every direction. From the half-mile entrance along the bay to the many gardens and back dock, the possibilities are truly endless. Weddings start at $500 with an officiant on site, and they have hosted private wedding weekends for over 300 guests. Planning a low-key wedding or a big crazy party? This venue can be the perfect place for you and your loved ones.

Theresa and Beau invited over 80 people to celebrate their day over the weekend. From Friday night until Sunday morning, they spent all that time relaxing with their guests, getting married surrounded by the water, and shooting amazing sunset portraits.

This is what Theresa wrote on The Knot: “Natasha is simply the best, no contest. She went above and beyond anything we could have dreamt of, perfectly capturing our engagement photos (after some scheming ahead of time to include a surprise gift for the groom) and our whole wedding day. It rained the day of our engagement photoshoot at the National Zoo, and she helped us persevere and find great locations anyway. Throughout wedding planning, she helped us figure out a reasonable schedule and encouraged us to include fun details like portraits with sunglasses, a game of newlyweds vs. parents cornhole, and fireworks. We knew we could just let the day unfold and she captured every moment and action shot, not only of us but also of our friends and family, which was so important to us. I can’t recommend her highly enough!!”
