What is an elopement?

An elopement means tying the knot and celebrating with just yourselves or a small gathering. It doesn’t necessarily mean running away in secret, it’s simply choosing to keep it simple. It’s a personal, intimate, and romantic alternative for couples who want their day focused on what they both actually want.

What is included in an elopement session?

Elopement photography is for couples marrying in a minimal setting, celebrating just the two of you. We create artful couple portraits in a location of your choosing. Elopement photos usually end up as albums, large prints, or collages.

How do we choose the location for our elopement?

My elopement sessions allow for two locations of your choosing. I always advise couples to pick a location that has a special meaning to them, somewhere that answers the question: who are you as a couple? If your location answers that, you’ve found a great place for a meaningful session.

What should we wear for an elopement?

You can have so much fun with your attire. There’s no pressure from family or friends. I had a bride who picked a black dress while her now-husband picked a white suit.

What do we tell our family about eloping?

It likely won’t come as a total surprise if they know you well, and eloping has become far more common in recent years. I’d suggest telling parents or loved ones as soon as you’ve made the decision, maybe over dinner or coffee, breaking the news face to face.
