A DC Greek Wedding In A Unique Maryland Venue

Theresa and Mike got married in Rockville, Maryland, with a ceremony at St. Ann’s Catholic Church and a reception at Glen Echo Park, and their day was full of personal touches that made it feel unmistakably theirs. From a Greek Catholic ceremony honoring Theresa’s heritage to a reception under the neon lights of an old amusement park, this wedding had a little bit of everything. Here’s how it all came together.

A Love Story That Began at a Wedding

Theresa and Mike’s love story actually began at a wedding in 2018. Theresa’s family often calls her the Greek Gypsy, because she loves to travel and is always planning her next trip. Mike loves all things bike-related, whether it’s mountain biking or motorcycles. The two now live in Maryland with their beagle pup, Shelby.

A Greek Catholic Ceremony and a Glen Echo Park Reception

The morning of their wedding started with Theresa getting ready at her home in Rockville. It was important to her to start documenting the day somewhere meaningful, and I personally love the mess and the feel of “too many people.” I get inspired when so many stories are happening at once.

Their ceremony took place at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, and the architecture there is genuinely impressive. More than 150 guests attended, and the nave was still half empty. Theresa’s family is of Greek descent, so they had a Greek Catholic ceremony, which was such a special way to honor her heritage.

After the ceremony, everyone headed to the reception at Glen Echo Park (read the guide here). Theresa booked this location for two main reasons: the carousel, which brought such a fun element to the day, and the neon sign, which she knew would make for memorable photos. If you’re considering this venue for your own wedding, I put together a full guide covering pricing, booking details, and my honest take on photographing there.

This wedding was such a fun day to be a part of. For more Catholic church wedding inspiration, check out Lisa and Daniel’s intimate church wedding in Georgetown.
