Common questions
FAQs from Northern Virginia couples
There are so many venues — how do I narrow it down?
Start with three things: your budget, your guest count, and your aesthetic. Northern Virginia venue costs range from under $1,000 to $80,000+, so knowing your budget will immediately cut the list. Then factor in capacity: many historic estates and barn venues cap at 125–150 guests. Once those filters are applied, let the style and setting guide the rest.
Which venues are best for outdoor ceremonies?
The vineyard venues, especially Old Farm Winery, Fleetwood Farm, and The Stable at Bluemont, are exceptional for outdoor ceremonies in late afternoon light. Riverside on the Potomac and River Farm are also stunning outdoor options with waterfront backdrops. East Lynn Farm and Blue Hill Farm offer some of the most expansive natural settings if open countryside is your thing.
Which venues work well for smaller, more intimate weddings?
L’Auberge Provençale (packages from $1,950 for up to 8 guests), Rust Manor House (Jenna and Scott had just 50 guests), Bear Chase Brewing (ideal for under 50), and Carlyle House (up to 100) are all well-suited for intimate celebrations. Riverside on the Potomac also works beautifully for smaller groups: Katie and Zack had just 75 guests on 80 acres.
Which venues offer a full wedding weekend experience?
Catesby Farm Estate (sleeps 34), Goodstone Inn (18 guest suites), Bear Chase Manor (sleeps 14), Blue Hill Farm (luxury suites included), and L’Auberge Provençale (14 guest rooms) all offer on-site accommodations for a multi-day celebration. These are particularly wonderful for destination couples with out-of-town guests.
As a photographer, which venues do you love most?
Every venue on this list has something I genuinely love about it. But a few highlights: Old Farm Winery at Hartland for the effortless flow of the whole day, Riverside on the Potomac for the sheer variety of spaces across the property, Raspberry Plain Manor for that conservatory ballroom light, and Rust Manor House for intimate garden portraits. Goodstone Inn is high on my list to photograph next.
